Little changes, big savings?

It can often feel like we are making sacrifices when trying to save money but it doesn’t always have to be like that. Each month we will be running little experiments to see how we can save money with minimal effort.

This month our experiment will be to turn the TV off for two days each week and see if it makes any difference to our monthly bills. Having two young children, you could say that this is indeed a sacrifice but I am actually looking forward to enjoying quality time with my children; playing, cycling, going to the park - and maybe I’ll read one of those books that’s gathering dust in the front room.

Our electricity usage for last month August was 252.1kWh which cost us £42.24. I’m hoping we can get that down to at the most £35 by cutting out the TV. My five year old son returns to school on Friday so that should also help as we won’t have the daily Pokémon watching.

So why not try it with us? Turn off the TV completely for two days per week or if it would work better do maybe something like no TV after 8pm for the month?

Let’s make the most of it - find a new hobby, get more sleep, hey maybe I’ll even start talking to the

We’ll share our findings at the end of month and look forward to hearing how you got on!
