We could all use an extra bit of cash now and again, here are a some side hustles that may work for you....
1. Surveys
This is a well know way of bringing in a few extra pounds, but building the bucks can take some time. Some of the most popular sites are Swagbucks, Attapoll, Toluna and Ipsos i-say but there are many many more.
You can do surveys anywhere, when you have a few minutes to spare. but you will not qualify for every survey and it can be a little mind numbing answering question after question.
If you are really conscientious you could build up to around £30 - £40 per month just by completing surveys in your spare time.
2. Rags to Riches!
We all think of eBay as the first place to sell our old clothes, but that can be a little hit and miss. There are other sites that do buy second hand clothes to sell on. The Next Best Thing buys children's clothes from popular high street stores such as Next, M and S, Zara and many more. They pay 50p to £1 per item plus postage.
Depop sells a huge range of fashion items in many styles. It is quick and easy to use and is accessible to everyone from your granny to the latest insta influencer. They charge 10% commission.
If you have designer goods then Vestaire is your go to site. At 20 to 25% commission, i's not cheap but they provide an efficient accessible service and work well as the middle man for those extra expensive items.
3. Cakes for Cash!
If lockdown has brought out the Mary Berry in you or you have got so crafty that you reckon Clintons should be knocking down your door, then you may want to consider taking things to the next step and making some mulah out of it!
Until you have made £1000 profit you do not need to tell the tax man. So you can start selling your cards, cakes, jewellery, whatever it is you can turn your hand to - to friends and family.
Thereafter you will need to follow certain regulations as effectively you would be setting up your own business. It's not as daunting as it may sound. Simply Business have some good guides to give you an idea of what would be required. An example of baking business guidelines can be found here. Go for it you never know where it may take you!
4. Get on your bike!
If you are flexible with time and have a valid driving licence when food delivery may be a viable option. From Pizza Hut to Deliveroo, part - time options are available but evenings and weekends are usually required. Roughly you will make £8- £10 per hour. So if you want to earn a little extra cash for a little holiday or that new 60 inch TV you have had your eye on then scooting around town may be a good option.
5. Smells Goooood!!!
Remember when the Avon lady used to come round to your house with her catalogue? Well she still exists! Working for companies such as Avon and Scentsy allows you to work from home and in your own time. You do have to be good at promoting yourself and have very nice friends who are willing to support you with a couple of starter purchases but in the end it is possible to build it and give yourself a little bit of pocket money. Often such companies can ask you to buy some goods (at a discount) to start you off and then it's up to you to get the ball rolling!
